A proven path to decarbonisation through a technology we’ve championed since the 1970s.
Kimpton has designed and installed heat pump systems for over 50 years. Long before they were mainstream, we delivered one of the UK’s first commercial heat pump installations, using innovative technology to keep potato stocks dry and fresh for Walkers Crisps and Golden Wonder. Even then, they saved thousands in energy costs and dramatically reduced emissions.
Today, we remain at the forefront of heat pump technology, specialising in tailored systems for commercial and industrial buildings across the North West and North Wales.
Heat pumps are a key step in decarbonising heat, which accounts for more than half of the UK’s total energy use. Instead of burning fossil fuels, they use electricity to transfer heat from one place to another to warm or cool a space. Even in cold conditions, they extract usable energy from air, water or the ground.
One standout project is our marine-source heat pump installation at Plas Newydd, where we successfully designed and installed the UK’s first water source heat pump in the open sea. This near invisible system was designed to draw water from the sea and convert it to usable energy, delivering a CoP (Coeffcient of Performance of 3.0 – 3.2. In short, every £1 of input generated up to £3.20 of heat output.
As MCS-approved installers through the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC), we offer recognised technical expertise and a long track record of results.
