As one of the North West’s leading building and environmental services companies, we are proud to announce that Kimpton Energy Solutions was Highly Commended at the Building and Energy Efficiency Awards 2015 for the Plas Newydd Marine Source Heat Pump project. The Buildings & Energy Efficiency (B&EE) Awards reward outstanding projects and innovative products that are promoting excellence in buildings across the UK and we were extremely proud to receive the accolade at the high profile awards dinner which took place at Grand Hall in the Palace Hotel – Manchester on the 10th of November.
Following an extensive period of planning and project specifying, we were employed by The National Trust to provide the complete design and installation for the first commercial Marine Source Heat Pump to be installed in the UK.
Providing 300kW of heat energy to serve the Plas Newydd Country House Estate, we were responsible for installing the pipework to extract the marine water from the Menai Strait, which is pumped 30metres up the cliff face to the heat pumps located in the estates plant room within the Stable Block. Pre-insulated pipes then carry the generated heat 100m to the Country House itself where it is used to heat the building and provide domestic hot water. This ground breaking project has helped to save the Trust £70,000 per annum by not consuming 138,000 litres of oil per year.
Chris Livesley, business development manager said “we are all extremely proud to be once again recognised for the ground breaking work we are doing in renewables, and whilst we didn’t win the award outright, its nevertheless fantastic news to be highly commended for a project with so many firsts”.
Paul Southall, Environmental Advisor, National Trust commented on the project “This project has seen a number of firsts – the first marine source heat pump of its type in the UK, the biggest at 300kW and the first in open sea rather than a harbour. What has been done is genuinely cutting-edge and I have nothing but praise for Kimpton Energy Solutions and Stiebel Eltron who were faced with the unique challenge of designing and installing the heat pump. Considering the scale of the project, everything went remarkably smoothly.”«Back to Blog
The installation will improve the comfort conditions in several areas of the school servicing both pupils and staff. We are very experienced in undertaking projects in these conditions were flexibility and careful scheduling is key and this was crucial to our appointment on this contract.
We have been using TKR Services since their inception and during that time they proved to be not only commercially competitive, but also, looking from an Engineers point of view they have strived to provide the highest quality work.
The Plaza is a showpiece building for Bruntwood in Liverpool and we have since made it our own headquarters in the city. To reflect this, we needed to ensure that the fit out was of the highest quality, whilst maintaining the high levels of service our tenants expect from Bruntwood.
