  • Acoustic Screens & Barriers

As noise issues increase with the ever-increasing size of both electrical switchgear and transformers then a more cost effective solution is required to reduce environmental noise pollution.

Whilst an acoustic enclosure is an ideal way of containing noise, there are occasions where it is more cost effective to erect acoustic screens adjacent to the equipment or surrounding an array of electrical equipment.

Constructed from metals or polypropylene and filled with sound absorbing materials our acoustic barriers can be as long as required, from a few metres to over 100 metres long, and installed in a single straight line or in an ‘L’ or ‘U’ shape. Similarly height is not a restriction either.

All our structures are weather proof and designed to last at least 20 years.

Acoustic Screens & Barriers Case Study

    Project Details

    Client: National Grid
    Customer: Morrison Utility Services
    Service: Acoustic Barrier
    Project completion: October 2013

    The Project

Kimpton Energy Solutions were employed by Morrison Utility Services to design, manufacture and erect an Acoustic Barrier that would reduce the noise levels of the transformers and associated electrical equipment at the point where the generated electricity from the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm reaches land and connects to the National Grid.

Designed and built in an ‘L’ shape configuration the barrier has an overall measurement of 70m long and 5m high. The modular construction allowed for easy manufacturing, shipping and erection on site.

The barrier is designed to provide an overall noise level reduction of 12dBA.
