"We have worked with Kimpton on several previous projects with
similar challenges such as tight deadlines, access restrictions,
listed status and ambitious environmental goals. This project
combines all those elements but Kimpton's experience means that we
can be confident they will rise to the challenges."

Kimpton Building Services has been awarded the design and
installation contract for all the M&E services at Hebden Bridge
Town Hall's £3 million extension programme.
Set in the heart of the picturesque Yorkshire town, Hebden
Bridge Town Hall is a listed building and the development programme
aims to develop facilities to provide small business start up units
and conference/meeting facilities within a three-storey
extension. The scheme has been part funded (in loans and
grants) by the Community Builders fund, which has provided £2
million, with a further £1 million being provided by the European
Regional Development Fund. Some of this funding is dependent
on the scheme receiving a BREEAM 'very good' rating and also
meeting the planning stipulation that 15% of the energy consumed is
to be provided through a low or zero carbon solution. The M&E
installation is critical role in achieving this.
Explains Richard Kimpton from Kimpton Building Services:
"Kimpton is responsible for designing and installing new heating,
domestic hot water services, ventilation, above ground drainage and
sanitary ware. We have leveraged our expertise in
sustainability and energy efficient building services to integrate
high efficiency condensing boilers with solar PV and CHP and
potentially solar thermal technologies in order to achieve the
scheme's eco-friendly aims."
Kimpton must also use its experience of delivering complex
projects under tight time constraints for this project as the
design period was just six weeks and the M&E construction phase
is scheduled to take just 28 weeks.
Fortunately the company has completed similar design and build
projects with Arup Consulting Engineers in Sheffield and has a
local team close to the site, which not only helps to ensure rapid
progress but reduces travel requirements, minimising the carbon
footprint of the construction programme to contribute to its BREEAM
rating.

restrictions, listed status and ambitious environmental
goals. This project combines all those elements but Kimpton's
experience means that we can be confident they will rise to the
