Tom Jones, an apprentice from Bromborough-based building
services firm, Kimpton, has beaten strong competition to win the
regional BSS Rose Bowl Award for 'Heating and Ventilating Fitting
Craft'.
This is the second time that an apprentice from Kimpton has
triumphed in the prestigious award, with Tom's success following on
from that of his colleague Luke Robinson in 2009. Luke then
went on to win the North West's Heating & Ventilating Installer
of the Year title at the Heating and Ventilating Contractors'
Association (HVCA) regional awards in 2010. Awarded by
Liverpool Community College, the regional BSS Rose Bowl Award means
that Tom will now go on to represent Kimpton in the National BSS
Rose Bowl Awards.
Comments Tom: "Kimpton has a strong tradition of offering
training and helping its employees rise up the career ladder and
throughout my five years here I've always felt like my hard work
would put me on track for a bright future. Winning this award
means a lot to me: it's great to know that my employer has such
faith in me and I will be proud to represent them at the national
awards."
Kimpton is well-recognised in the building services industry as
having an extremely successful apprenticeship scheme and the
company takes on new apprentices each year as well as investing
considerably in training and development programmes for all its
staff. Tom's success proves that the company's commitment to
training pays dividends, both in terms of winning prestigious
awards and in ensuring that the firm has a highly skilled and loyal
workforce.
Managing director, Richard Kimpton adds: "Kimpton provides an
unparalleled training ground for young apprentices who benefit both
from formal training and from the experience of colleagues who have
been with the company for decades. Tom is a talented and hard
working member of the team so it comes as no surprise that he has
won this award. The culture at Kimpton means that the whole
team takes pride in their work and strives for excellence and Tom
is a shining example of that work ethic".
