Noise management specialist, Kimpton Acoustics, has been awarded
two contracts to control noise levels from Combined Heat &
Power units at two Yorkshire hospitals: St James's in Leeds and
Airedale Hospital in Keighley.
Like all hospitals, St James's and Airedale have a constant need
for heating and power, 24 hours-a-day and 365 days-a-year. Building
a CHP unit to answer these requirements was the most
energy-efficient approach but it is also essential to patients'
comfort that noise from these units does not reach unacceptable
levels. As a result, Kimpton Acoustics has been brought in to
design and install a noise attenuation solution, constructing
enclosures that will ensure noise levels remain below 75dB(A).
Explains Bob Jones from Kimpton Acoustics: "The most
energy-efficient solution to providing heating and electricity is
not always the quietest but this should never be an impediment to
mkaing the most of advanced generation technologies. Our acoustic
enclosure will guarantee to keep noise level below 75dB(A) but in
practice they are likely to be even lower.
