Case Study: Grovesnor

The Client

Grovesnor is the developer of Liverpool One, Europe’s largest retail-led development. Known as the Paradise Street development, the scheme is a high profile regeneration project that will transform the centre of Liverpool, with a 42-acre face-lift right at the heart of the city. The £950 million development includes 40 individually designed buildings, including 1.6 million sq ft of retail space, 600 residential units and two hotels.

The Challenge

With a scheme as high profile as Paradise Street, keeping the project on track and remaining on schedule are key. And on such a large site, scheduling work and co-ordinating services is no small challenge.

All 40 of the buildings that make up the scheme need to be connected to utility services. And once each building is connected to the gas and water supply, the pipework needs to be connected to each individual retail or residential unit. It’s a mammoth task, and one that has seen Kimpton lay more than xx miles of pipework…..and counting!

The Solution

Working to a tight schedule, Kimpton is laying all internal gas and water piping within 12 of the scheme’s buildings. Using copper piping for the water connections and mild steel piping for the gas connections, Kimpton is laying the pipe in both pre-prepared service voids, and above ground through car park areas.

Each building is different and Kimpton is responsible for connecting the pipework to each individual retail unit or apartment in all 12 buildings, including installation of an isolation valve and meter for each premises.
