Case Study: Gnosall Medical Centre & Surgery

The Client

This brand new purpose built medical centre supplies all primary care facilities to patients within Gnosall and the surrounding community in Staffordshire. As well as offering expanded nursing services, a physiotherapy department, pharmacy and a dental practice, the centre also offers improved facilities for chiropody, audiology, scanning and minor surgery.

The Challenge

Designed and built by main contractors David McLean, the 1,714 square metre building is over four times the size of the GP surgery it replaced and therefore has substantial heating and ventilation requirements across the different healthcare facilities. Kimpton Building Services was appointed to deliver this aspect of the project.

The Solution

An extensive HVAC specification, Kimpton were responsible for the design and build of a system that included boilers, pumps, boosters, storage tanks and radiators. Other climate control features installed throughout the Centre included air conditioning and natural ventilation redistribution systems to maintain ambient temperatures throughout.

Following the successful installation, Kimpton’s service and maintenance division were also awarded the ongoing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) contract for the building which sees it carry out bi-annual checks on all HVAC plant as well as emergency repairs where needed.

“The David McLean built centre is a major initiative for Gnosall and the surrounding community and has been deigned and built to the highest specification. Kimpton was involved throughout on the heating and ventilation installation and has played its part in delivering a first class medical facility, which is underlined by its subsequent contract to deliver the ongoing maintenance.”
